amara memory

Remember your life while you're living it.

Memories are scattered across photos, messages and documents. amara memory aims to help you rediscover their connections and return to their sources. Explore the idea today through a public Life Map of historical content; a personal archive on your own computer is our development direction.

The point

Your life is documented everywhere. It should still answer to you.

Most memories now live behind different logins: photos in one place, messages in another, music, trips, places and receipts somewhere else again.

Our goal is a personal timeline where you can search, rediscover and preserve these traces. Local processing on your own computer is our guiding principle.

Technical preview

Explore connections. Read the sources.

Choose a date or range, explore the Life Map and filter its connections, then open a supporting source to read more. The public historical preview includes source-reading examples for Rome and Music. Where a source is unavailable, the preview explains this. Personal imports, offline AI and speech are development goals.

Principle

Local. Private. Yours.

This is our direction for a personal archive. The public preview uses historical demo content; personal archive use on your own device is not part of it.

The name

amara carries the sense of eternity.

For us, the name amara expresses a wish to preserve memories beyond the moment.

For amara memory, that does not mean freezing life in place. It means keeping the thread reachable when apps, devices and even memory itself move on.

01

Timeline

Photos, places and years.

The public preview already lets you explore dated historical views. Bringing your own photos, places and other memory traces into a personal timeline remains a development goal.

02

Search

Ask your own life.

Search is intended to help you rediscover people, places and stories and read the related sources.

03

Archive

Old drives, folders and exports.

We aim to connect additional sources and bring their contents together in a clear view. The original files are intended to remain in place.

Owned by you

The memory layer stays where the life is.

Local first

The personal archive is intended to run on your own computer. The public technical preview is a separate way to explore the idea.

Local processing as a goal

Explore the Life Map with public historical demo content. Personal archive use on your own device is not part of this public demo.

Originals remain

A memory archive is planned that will be built separately from the original files.

Readable later

Open formats and understandable structures are intended to help preserve your memories independently of individual applications.

First, bring the pieces home.

amara unfold is an independent tool that turns selected exports and folders into readable Markdown locally. An open-source release is intended; a public download is not yet available. Visit the product page to explore the features.

Development direction

From scattered files to something that can stay with you.

Our goal: Source files → Markdown → Timeline and Life Map → Local AI → Voice and tablet → Optional presence

We aim to bring timeline, search, language model and speech together on the same local computer, so you can ask about your memories without sending them to a cloud service.

The goal is complete offline operation in everyday use: extraction, storage, search, evidence retrieval, language model, speech recognition, speech output and interface all running locally. Internet access is optional for deliberate updates or chosen services—not required for remembering.

Care experience

The technology should disappear.

For everyday and care use, we aim to develop simple interaction using a local computer and a tablet. Familiar photos, large controls and speech are intended to make access easier.

The tablet is intended to show photos and simple controls while a local computer preserves and explores the memories. This interaction model is a development goal.

Optional presence

A presence, if it helps.

A screen is enough for many people. For others, the same private intelligence may one day have a gentle presence in the room—able to speak, show a photograph, share a familiar story and patiently help when memory fades. Optional, never required.

Partners

Building the path from archive to companion.

We aim to turn a personal archive into a timeline, a Life Map and conversations with traceable sources. Over time, we want to develop a local companion that makes memories accessible through images and speech. We welcome people who would like to contribute their experience and ideas.
